The Office Cleaning Checklist
A practical checklist of what a well-run office cleaning contract should cover — daily, weekly and periodically — so nothing important gets missed.
The short answer
A good office cleaning checklist separates daily tasks (workspaces, washrooms, kitchens, high-touch points), weekly tasks (detailed and low-level areas) and periodic tasks (deep cleans, floor care, high-level cleaning). The right frequency depends on your site and use.
Daily tasks
- —Empty bins and replace liners
- —Clean and sanitise washrooms and restock consumables
- —Clean kitchens, breakout areas and appliances
- —Wipe high-touch points (handles, switches, shared equipment)
- —Vacuum main walkways and spot-clean floors
- —Tidy and clean reception and meeting rooms
Weekly tasks
- —Detailed dusting of surfaces and fixtures
- —Full vacuuming including edges and under accessible furniture
- —Clean internal glass and partitions
- —Descale and detail washrooms
Periodic tasks
- —Carpet deep cleaning and hard-floor maintenance
- —High-level cleaning and light fittings
- —Interior window cleaning
- —Deep cleans of kitchens and hygiene-critical areas
How to set the right frequency
Frequency should reflect how the space is used — headcount, footfall, and whether areas are customer-facing. A specification built during a site survey turns this checklist into a schedule that fits your office rather than a generic template.
